The 2018 World Cup Is Here!

The wait is finally over! Today marks the beginning of the biggest sporting event on the planet… the FIFA World Cup. The host nation, Russia, will face off against Saudi Arabia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow with the opening ceremony broadcast to the world 30 minutes before kick off.

All eyes will be on the 736 players from 32 teams as they showcase their skills on the world’s biggest footballing stage and it promises to be an action-packed, drama-filled month of football. We’ll be cheering on Gareth Southgate’s England when they face Tunisia in Volgograd on Monday before taking on Panama and Belgium in Group G as they try to make it to the knockout stages.

Joining TruGym Was The Catalyst I Needed!

The truGym team have decided to award William Topping our Member Of The Month for April.

Dr William Topping was 42 and by his own admission “fat”, tipping the scales last August post summer holiday at 106kg!

He had a cross trainer at home which he used on and off but in the summer last year a car drove into the garage it was in and he could no longer use the room. He was faced with a difficult decision: be a fat 40+ year old, or be the sort of Dad who can run around with his children (rather than after his children).

William joined truGym Stevenage in August 2017 and has dedicated countless hours towards turning his lifestyle around, improving not only his fitness, but his nutrition too. This, together with the continued help and support from our team in Stevenage, William has lost an amazing 11kg and lowered his blood pressure. Currently weighing in at 94.8kg, he feels he is on course to lose another 3 stone over the next 12 months.

William’s transformation begun with running; first using the ‘Couch To 5k’ app and in April achieved his first ever 10k run in just over an hour. He also found himself enjoying weight training supported by the truGym staff.

William said “joining TruGym was the catalyst that I needed. The staff are great, full of support and enthusiasm. Even though I have equipment at home by coming to TruGym to work out I find I spend more time exercising and as a result I have had sustainable weight loss.”
